Environmental issues carbon dating
Unfortunately, the amount of Carbon-14 in the atmosphere has not been steady throughout history.
In fact, it has fluctuated a great deal over the years.
Human remains, fossils and organic materials from archaeological sites are all dated using carbon-14.
The increased levels of CO² in the earths atmosphere have created a greenhouse effect which is warming the earth.
Humans began making an impact during the Industrial Revolution.
The isotope decreased by a small fraction due to the combustion of fossil fuels, among other factors.
If this were to happen it could be devestating for mankind and all other species.
Unfortunatly no-one can predict exactly how much time we have to try and turn this around or in fact what the true impact will be.
